We've been independent for 18 years, founder-led, with no outside investment and no acquisition agenda. That's not an accident: we structured it deliberately, because the model we sell to clients (long-term ownership, senior engineers staying with their systems for years) is incompatible with the typical PE or strategic-acquisition exit. Could that change someday? Possibly. But it would be visible to our clients before it surprised them. We don't do back-room ownership changes.

By not trying to be everywhere at once. We're not built to replace your large delivery vendors. We're built to be the team that owns specific high-stakes work: critical platforms, regulated systems, modernization where the cost of getting it wrong outweighs the cost of moving carefully. For that kind of work, 30 senior engineers in one room beat 300 contractors across three continents. If your engagement genuinely needs hundreds of bodies, we'll tell you so - and we're probably not the right fit.

A fair question. Honestly: every team has key-person risk, including ours. What we do about it: every system we operate is documented well enough that someone other than the original engineers can pick it up. We deliberately structure engagements so at least two senior engineers know any given system. And our tenure helps: when most of the team has been here over a decade, "key person leaves tomorrow" is rarer than at agencies with two-year average tenure. The bus factor isn't zero - but it's lower than it usually is in our industry.

No. Every engineer working on your system is a CODEWAVE employee, based in Wrocław, on our payroll. We don't run an offshore arm, we don't body-shop, and we don't take on engagements we can't staff with our own people. If we needed to grow rapidly to fit a project, we'd tell you and we'd probably decline. The alternative is hiring contractors we don't know and selling them to you as if they were us. We've watched other firms do exactly that. We're not interested.

More often than is good for revenue. The usual cases: fixed-bid rewrites of working legacy systems (the industry track record is terrible and we won't sell something we wouldn't buy ourselves); engagements where the client wants a vendor to blame rather than an engineering partner; short-term tactical work where we can't take real ownership; and projects in domains we don't understand well enough to advise on. We say so and point elsewhere when we can. Saying no is part of how we stay good at what we do say yes to.

It matters in healthcare engagements, and matters less elsewhere. We'd rather be honest about that than overclaim. In healthcare, our founder reads clinical workflows and regulation as a designer rather than a translator, which means our healthcare work skips the "engineer learns what an EHR is" phase. Wystawi.ai exists because of that combination of careers. Outside healthcare, it shapes how we think about regulated environments more generally: software where being wrong is a business event. But a medical degree doesn't make us better at, say, a banking intranet. It doesn't, and we won't pretend otherwise.
